blog 5 Questions for Research Paper

I am writing about Immigration for my research paper. Here are a few questions I have in mind to start off with:


1. When did you first come to the U.S. and how old were you?
2. What was your journey like when you came to the U.S.?
3. Why did you want to come to the U.S?
4. What did you think about U.S. after some months and do you still feel the same?
5. Why would you want to leave your country and come somewhere new?
6. Were you part of the Bracero Program?
7. Did you have a long term goal before you came to the United States and did you succeed? 

Reflection #4

Reading about the religion of those Muslims were very heart breaking.  It's sad to hear that women are beaten by their husband if they don't obey them.  Women are treated disrespectfully and are looked down at, while the men are praised on.  The Men could have up to four wives and it's looked as a good thing.  The women their are covered still from head to toe and are still made to veil themselves in the public. It's so sad to think that because of this religion they think it's OK to have inequality and treat the women like animals.  Women being abused no matter what religion you are is not OK, and I can't believe that seeing someones pain was permitted to continue on and on. Then as I read on to the next chapter the Mongols.  The Mongols and their Empire and how they came about. When Mongols  were raised they were taught to do a lot of things from a young age. They were taught to ride horses and shoot a bow and arrow.  This made  the Mongols very advanced to their enemies. Through this time the Mongols moved on and took over other civilizations.  While doing this they picked up different skills and languages and made them their own. They grew into a powerful Empire that eventually.

Reflection #3

In these next chapters Islam had finally acquired a presence in the Americas.  They had thousands of Mosques and millions of Muslims.  Now they have taken such a presence and created a new civilization.  In this chapter religion had taken over, Islam had said that Allah was the one and only and they believed in the greatness of him.  Christianity and Islam had spread all over from East to west.  There were more religious opportunities for women as well such as the Sufis. Religion had played a strong role in every ones life.  But their were so many different ways to be a Muslim, a christian and so on.  Many of them are talked to be about man made??? When I learn about different religions now a days and the restrictions that they have in being part of their group amazes me. Back then they had to wear certain clothes and do certain things.  But then again, that is still how it is done today in our society and the legends still live on the same way.  

In China the use of gunpowder came around for their military.  It was a new way to protect themselves from invaders and a new way to kill.China also became known in their technology and still today in our age is still known for their technology.  We get everything from them because they come up with all these great ideas and on top of it's cheaper to buy.  That's where all the trade comes into play. This made consumers less efficient.  There was such an importance in trade and still is today.  We still do a lot of trade with China and it has it's benefits and it's downfalls. Silk was such a monopolized trade that everyone wanted it. Most goods that traveled on "silk roads" were a big luxury.  Silk was such a demand back then and seems to still be a demand today as well as people paying a good amount for it as well. 

Blog 2 chapters 4-7

As I was reading through chapters 4-7, our book moves away from the ancient civilization to the classical era.  This was the time that Empires grew powerful with a lot of hierarchy. it's amazing how fast the growth of population and technology moved all over the world. The fact that species grew from each other and spread the knowledge among each other is what made our world as modern as it is today. 


But as we move along it seems like the time then is no different from the time are living in now. The growth of all Empires, religion and power were so much that people turned against each other. Mistreatment and prejudice of people are still the same. Whether it be for power, inequality or greed our system still seems to be running the very same way. As the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. It's very sad, but you see this with the way our government runs the country today.  


The most interesting part of all of this for me was the religion part of it all. I really enjoyed reading what other religions praised on and what was important to them. Men of course were the spiritual leaders where women weren't recognized or accepted for anything.  It's still the same way today.  As a baptized catholic, I went to private school most of my life. But as I got older I lost my faith in what I was raised to believe in. People took their religion very serious and were dedicated to it. But over thousands of years and like everything else, religion has changed so much.
